101 Days of Consistency: My Journey to the 2025 Edinburgh Marathon—Feeling Invincible is the Plan!

13.02.2025 - day 1

Why Take on a Challenge Like This?

In exactly 101 days, I’ll run my third and final marathon in beautiful Edinburgh. This time, my approach is different. It’s not just about getting across the finish line or achieving a new PB (though if I can beat my 3:46:14 time from the 2023 London Marathon, I’ll be absolutely thrilled!). More than anything, this challenge is about feeling amazing—mentally and physically—from start to finish: during training, on race day, and in recovery.

While I loved the atmosphere of my past marathons, the training was rather draining. The gels left me with tummy troubles, the long runs felt endless, and there were moments of hanger and burnout. Why go back for more? Because there’s something about unfinished business, and this time I want it to be different. I want to love it, thrive, feel strong, stay consistent, and enjoy the journey.

Life is already full—balancing work, family, and health goals is no easy feat. This challenge isn’t about adding more pressure or taking over your life. It’s about finding simple, sustainable ways to fit healthy habits into an already busy routine. It’s about building consistency that works for you—no extremes, no guilt—just steady progress that feels good.

The 101-Day Plan: Finding the Best Formula

This challenge is built on the belief that there’s no one-size-fits-all approach to health and fitness. It’s an opportunity to test and refine what works, using the principles of bio-individuality—because what worked 10 years ago might not work now.

This is not about strict rules. It’s about how you want to feel: energised, rested, and strong. The plan is flexible, adaptable, and focused on consistency—not perfection. Some days will be amazing; others will be harder. That’s life. The goal is to stay committed, listen to your body, and make sustainable choices.

Why Consistency?

Consistency is the magic ingredient. It’s not flashy, but it’s powerful. When you show up for yourself every day—even in small ways—it adds up. This challenge is about leaning into that power and building habits that last far beyond the 101 days.

Key Focus Areas

1. Nutrition:
Fuel the body with real, whole foods. This isn’t about deprivation; it’s about making choices that support energy, recovery, and performance. Finding a better fuelling strategy for long runs and focusing on recovery meals that feel good will be part of the experiment.

2. Strength Training:
Building strength is essential. Strong muscles improve performance and help prevent injuries. Mixing up movement with weightlifting, running, and tennis keeps it fun and sustainable.

3. Recovery and Rest:
Sleep is the ultimate recovery tool. The goal is to prioritise 7–8 hours of sleep each night, reduce stress, and integrate recovery activities like yoga, stretching, and meditation.

4. Hydration:
Hydration will be a game-changer. Drinking 2.5L of water daily and using natural electrolytes will help keep energy levels stable and performance on track.

5. Mindset and Reflection:
This challenge is as much about mental strength as physical. Weekly reflections will help track progress and adjust the plan as needed. Flexibility and curiosity are key.

What’s the Goal?

By the end of 101 days, the goal is simple:

  • To feel strong, rested, and confident.

  • To show that consistency pays off, whether it’s in running, nutrition, or mindset.

  • To inspire others to take on their own version of a 101-day challenge.

  • To build habits that last and feel sustainable.

The Power of Sharing

This challenge is a chance to share real experiences—the highs, the lows, and everything in between. It’s about creating something sustainable, reflecting on what works, and staying open to change. Expect updates on Instagram: meal prep ideas, recovery tips, mindset shifts, and honest lessons from the process.

Join the Challenge

What would your 101-day challenge look like? Maybe it’s committing to more sleep, creating a new morning routine, or improving your nutrition. Whatever it is, the magic is in showing up day after day.

Consistency isn’t flashy, but it’s powerful. Let’s thrive together!
